Official Scorers

The California Deer Association maintains a list of trained officials who can score your trophy for entry into the record books. We use the respected Boone & Crockett Club scoring system. This has been the universally accepted method of evaluating trophies of big game for over 50 years.

Boone & Crockett does not accept blacktail deer entries from Merced, San Benito, Monterey, and San Luis Obispo counties. The California Deer Association will provide special categories for these blacktails, which will be designated Southern Zones. The new categories will be:

· Southern and Boone & Crockett zones, forked-horn. Minimum score 100.

· Boone & Crockett zone Pacific buck. Minimum score 100.

· Southern and Boone & Crockett zones non-typical. Minimum score 130.

· Southern Zone typical. Minimum score 120.

We already have more than 20 deer that have made the minimum score in these new categories. If you have a head that you have green-scored and it looks like it can make the book, contact one of our official scorers and have it measured. The following is a list of CDA official scorers:
